A European Great Place To Work® Award means employer branding across national borders

On June 5, the "Best Employers" in Europe were honored in Stockholm. Among them were international companies based in Switzerland, whose employees were also included in the survey. These included Adecco Group, AbbVie Inc, Mars Inc, SAS Institute Inc, SC Johnson, Amgen Inc, DHL Express and Hilti. On the other hand, the Swiss companies Rackspace, Domicil Bern and Sensirion also took part. We met Constanze Haibach, Senior Manager Employer Branding & Recruiting at Sensirion, on site. She explained to us why she doesn't put the trophy on the shelf and what this has to do with international university graduates.

"Barack Obama, Al Gore and Kofi Annan once sat in this room today," says the Swedish presenter into the microphone. A murmur goes through the audience. "Here, in Stockholm City Hall, where every year people are awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for outstanding achievements for peace, we would also like to honor outstanding achievements tonight," she says. "So I would like to welcome you to the European Great Place To Work Awards 2019!" Thunderous applause, the live band begins to play and the lights are dimmed.

This was the start of the "Best Employers in Europe" award ceremony, which took place on June 5, 2019. Four different categories were honored: the 25 best multinational companies, the 30 best large companies, the 50 best medium-sized companies and the 20 best small companies. Among the award-winning companies were Rackspace (19th place, category: best small company), Domicil Bern (26th place, category: best large company) and Sensirion, which received the trophy for eighth place in the "best large company" category. With a happy smile on her face and the trophy in her hand, Constanze Haibach, Senior Manager Employer Branding & Recruiting at Sensirion, came off the stage - and took a moment to talk to us.

Sensirion was awarded eighth place in the European Great Place To Work Awards.
Great place to work: "Congratulations on your eighth place in the European Great Place To Work Awards! How does it feel to be ranked among the top ten best employers in Europe?"

Constanze Haibach: "The award makes us incredibly proud! It shows that Sensirion is doing the right thing as an employer and that our employees are among the most satisfied in the whole of Europe. Playing in the European league and being one of the best is a great feeling! At the same time, the award is also important for our internal employer branding: our employees see that our workplace culture is so good that we have even been recognized throughout Europe - and that is quite remarkable. The award is also extremely valuable for our external employer branding, as we are looking for specialists beyond national borders. As an SME in particular, it is becoming increasingly difficult for us to find good engineers. And if we then display the trophy at international trade fairs, it not only helps us to communicate our good workplace culture, but also to recruit talent."
