What it takes to be one of the Best Workplaces™
A great employer knows how to create an environment in which employees can sustainably develop their potential. The basis for this is above all a high level of trust, achieved through practiced values and leadership quality.
This year's Best Workplaces™ stand out from the Swiss average in particular due to the high level of management integrity. While pride in one's employer is still the most important factor when it comes to job satisfaction, the role of managers has become even more important than in previous years and is one of the top factors for a great workplace culture.
Employees of Best Workplaces™ 2024 are convinced that their managers keep their promises (85% vs. 52%), exemplify the best qualities of their organization (84% vs. 48%) and behave honestly and ethically (92% vs. 69%).

Michael Hermann, consultant and co-owner of Great Place To Work, says: "The honesty and integrity of superiors is no longer just an implicit requirement. Rather, they have a direct influence on the attractiveness of the employer and the commitment of employees in the workplace. It is pleasing to see that the best employers in Switzerland perform particularly well here"
Investing in your culture pays off: Creating great workplaces for everyone means engaged employees who are proud to work at their organization (91% vs. 61%), who want to work there for a long time (86% vs. 60%) and who act as ambassadors for their great workplace (88% vs. 58%).
A great workplace culture not only leads to more commitment, productivity and added value. It can also play a crucial role in employer branding. By communicating your culture to the outside world, your employees are more authentic than any commercial, helping to attract the interest of potential employees and build a strong, authentic and honest employer brand.

The employers recognized as Best Workplaces™ in 2024
The decisive factor for the Best Workplaces™ award is the comprehensive feedback from all employees (all organizations) and the evaluation of the HR processes and measures (from 20 employees) of the participating organizations. The scientifically developed questionnaire consists of 60 questions and is completed by an average of 83% of all employees in an organization. We congratulate all organizations on this incredible success!

Great Place To Work Spotlight Award highlights special achievements
The Spotlight Award was created by Great Place To Work to recognize organizations that excel in certain dimensions of the Great Place To Work model and serve as role models for other companies. This year, three Spotlight Awards will be presented in the categories Leadership, Innovation Culture and Values.
As part of an exclusive series of events (dates to follow), we will delve deeper into the three topics and give a selected audience the opportunity to benefit from the best practices of the winners.
Spotlight Award Leadership: Hilti AG & Hilti Switzerland AG
Leadership effectiveness is created when your managers know where your company is heading and how to get there. It is built on three fundamental pillars of trust: Credibility of management, fairness within the organization and respect between employees. Great Place To Work now recognizes organizations with outstanding leadership with the Spotlight Award Leadership for the first time.
Hilti AG & Hilti Schweiz AG not only made it to the top of the Best Workplaces™ in Switzerland podium in the Large category this year, but also received the Spotlight Award Leadership. Their data clearly shows how their effective and innovative strategies enable their leaders to be trailblazers for their entire organization.

Spotlight Award Values: APP Unternehmensberatung AG
Living values are of crucial importance because they create the basis for trust, credibility and the long-term success of an organization. If an organization's values only exist on paper and are not actively lived, they lose their significance and the trust of employees dwindles. With our Spotlight Award on the topic of "living values", we want to put the spotlight on organizations that have successfully anchored their values in the company so that they are clearly understood and lived by employees.
This year's Spotlight Award Values goes to APP Unternehmensberatung AG.
The APP is characterized by values such as authentic and transparent, trusting and collegial as well as independent and self-determined. These pairs of values were not developed in a management workshop, but are the result of a small internal company survey. They reflect how APP is perceived by its employees:
Authentic and transparent
At our company, everyone - including our CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors - is active in our core business in client mandates, communication is direct and open, we have salary transparency and key figures are available for all to see.
"Because we largely dispense with hierarchies, we have to set an even better example of what makes a good APP consultant in our day-to-day work." Thomas Häfliger
Trusting and collegial
The APP is a team! We all support each other, there are hardly any hierarchies, the majority of us eat lunch together and we are all on a first-name basis. Everyone has the greatest possible authority because we trust each other to act in the interests of the APP as a whole.
"APP is more than just an employer - we are a colorful bunch of personalities who also enjoy spending their free time together." Valérie Greisler
Independent and self-determined
The shares are in the hands of the employees, which means that they not only have a say, but also participate in our success. Employees can organize their own working hours, choose their own place of work, actively contribute ideas via the innovation process and also participate in various relevant topics, such as defining the strategic direction or our reorganization.
"In order to develop their ideas independently, our best-trained employees need as much freedom of action as possible. We also want to offer them this. That's why we have to maintain our independence." Rico Cadegg

Spotlight Award Innovation Culture: goSecurity AG
A positive error culture, investment in employees and a clearly defined purpose in the job are decisive factors that pave the way for strong innovation. Companies that know how to learn from mistakes, actively encourage their employees and support them in their personal development, as well as communicate a clear vision and a shared sense of purpose for their work, create an environment that promotes creativity and innovation.
And it is precisely these organizations that we would like to highlight with the "Spotlight Award Innovation Culture".
goSecurity AG ensures that employees are committed and want to try out new things. How do they do this? And you can see how this is reflected in the results here:

"We don't have a notice board with the mistake of the month... But mistakes are communicated transparently internally. Even superiors are not "spared". That perhaps gives us a basic trust in the culture. Those who think along with us receive recognition in the sense that we take our employees seriously, even when they have unconventional ideas. We don't have excessive parties when someone tries something out. But perhaps an important element is that we implement (almost) everything that works and show "the inventor" the necessary appreciation."
Kyan Wellbeing Award
Mental health has a direct impact on the well-being, productivity and loyalty of employees. By taking targeted measures to promote mental health, organizations can reduce stress, increase employee satisfaction and improve performance. In addition, investing in mental health helps to create a positive workplace culture and strengthen the organization's reputation as an attractive employer.
Together with Kyan Health, the leading digital health company from Switzerland in the field of mental health and mental well-being in the workplace, we would like to recognize outstanding organizations that strategically prioritize the well-being of their employees and proactively promote it with holistic concepts with the "Kyan Wellbeing Award" 2024.
