The Building and Transport Directorate of the Canton of Berne (BVD) is committed to reconciling the various needs for use on the one hand and for the protection and safeguarding of the habitat on the other. Its duty is to strive for sustainable development. The BVD deals with the diverse areas of water, environment, mobility and traffic, roads, land and buildings, maps and geoinformation as well as surveying.
The Civil Engineering Office (TBA) builds, operates and maintains the cantonal roads and the national road network in the canton of Bern.
In apprentice training, we not only focus on a wide range of specialist training, but also promote personal development and personal responsibility.

With around 400 employees, the TBA ensures that roads in the Canton of Bern are safe and ready for use. We have been training qualified specialists in road maintenance for years. This is a win-win situation for everyone involved: the prospective road maintenance specialists and operational trainees receive top training with the best opportunities on the job market. The vocational trainers can pass on their extensive knowledge to a younger generation. And our organization is constantly receiving new impulses from the apprentices.
