History
The global success story of Mars, Incorporated began more than 100 years ago in a small kitchen in the US state of Washington. It was in this kitchen that Frank C. Mars and his son Forrest created a special chocolate bar in 1911, which later became known as MILKY WAY and ultimately laid the foundation for the global family business that is Mars, Incorporated today.
Several decades and many product innovations later, the well-known names such as SNICKERS, MARS, SUGUS, UNCLE BEN'S, PEDIGREE or WHISKAS are part of the extensive variety of brands that Mars sells worldwide and make both people and animals happy.
Today, Mars has over 115,000 employees in 80 countries who work together globally. Mars has also been at home in Switzerland, in the canton of Zug, for more than 50 years. As one of the world's leading manufacturers of branded goods, many of our quality brands are distributed throughout Switzerland from Zug.
The Five Principles
The Five Mars Principles - Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency and Freedom - form the basis of our culture and reflect our business approach. They connect us across geographical borders, languages, cultures and generations.
Our Five Principles are synonymous with the Mars philosophy and have guided Mars associates throughout most of our company's history. We do our best every day to put our principles into action through our work and our relationships with consumers, customers, business partners, communities and colleagues. Because the world we want tomorrow starts with how we act today - "tomorrow starts today".
