Europe's best employers 2020: Swiss companies occupy top positions

It wasn't so long ago that we named the Best Employers in Switzerland 2020, and now the next major award is just around the corner: the "Europe's Best Workplaces™" Awards! Companies from a total of 19 countries were represented, including two Swiss companies and seven multinationals based in Switzerland.

Winner among medium-sized Swiss companies in Europe's top 5  

The IT consulting firm UMB is at the forefront of the European Best Employer Awards. In 2014, 2016, 2018 and again this year, the company took first place among the "Best Employers in Switzerland" with more than 250 employees. They are now also one of the top 5 employers of medium-sized companies (50-499 employees) in Europe! The CEO of UMB, Matthias Keller, knows exactly how they achieved fifth place: ""Culture eats strategy for breakfast". We can fully confirm this statement. In the largest category of Europe's Best Workplaces, the best 25 multinational companies in Europe, seven organizations with Swiss offices are represented: Hilton (3rd place), Abbvie (5th place), DHL (10th place), SAS Institute (11th place), Amgen (13th place), Bristol-Myers Squibb (21st place) and SC Johnson (23rd place). How to be recognized as one of Europe's Best Workplaces™ as a company

To be eligible for the European awards, companies must first prove themselves as one of the best employers nationally. Using our evidence-based methodology, companies are surveyed with our Trust Index™ employee survey on the one hand and facts and figures about the company are recorded using Culture Brief™ on the other. If the minimum requirements of 65% are then met, the company is awarded Great Place To Work® certification. If the company achieves 70% or more and meets the requirements of the Culture Audit™, in which measures for the cultural development of organizations are recorded and analyzed, the company qualifies for the national ranking of the Best Employers. All companies that are recognized as one of the "Best Employers in Switzerland" then take part in the international ranking - where their results are compared and ranked with those of other European organizations.
